MT-ST: Stabilization Training & Functional Rehabilitation Seminar

MT-ST Course Description (20.7 Direct Contact Hours/2.8 CEUs)
This course incorporates the latest Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) from worldwide sources. Participants evaluate the underlying quality of each major study and the corresponding philosophies of spinal stabilization. Instructor leads participants through a critical evaluation of different theories to determine how best to incorporate the information and apply graduated, specific, and effective muscle retraining into real patient situations. Extensive laboratory sessions practice graduated stabilization approaches, including Cervical and Lumbar Spine, Shoulder, Knee and Ankle injuries, as well as post-surgical conditions and specific diagnoses. Intervention is based upon EBM, physiology and current concepts in functional rehabilitation. May be taken at any time as a stand alone course. Includes required Home Study course component of approximately 7.7 hours.

Open to PTs, MDs, DOs, PTAs, and ATs. Enrollment limited. Lab clothes required for all sessions

MT-ST Course Objectives
Course participants upon completion will be able to:
  • Understand the major philosophies of stabilization training.
  • Critically evaluate the EBM research supporting the different philosophies.
  • Assess the stability of the Cervical and Lumbar Spine, Shoulder, Knee & Ankle.
  • Apply principles of exercise physiology to ensure appropriate stabilization is performed.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of the stabilization treatment provided to specific patients.
