MAPS Teaching Faculty

Marrow Burnette, PT, MSPT, OCS, COMT Marrow received his MSPT from University of North Florida in 2001 and his OCS in 2006. Marrow has been an active faculty member for MAPS since his COMT in 2005. Marrow has a wide variety of manual therapy experience and specializes in orthopedic outpatients as a Clinical Manager in the Brooks Rehabilitation System in Jacksonville, FL.

C.J. Conway, PT, GDMT, MMPAA, COMT A Univ. of So. Australia Manual Therapy graduate (‘79), Chris studied directly under G.D. Maitland. Member of the Manipulative Physiotherapists of Australia., Mr. Conway owns and operates several private practices in Southeastern Australia.

Chad Cook, PT, MBA, OCS, PhD, COMT, FAAOMPT is the Professor and Chair of Physical Therapy at Walsh University, Ohio, and is extensively involved in EBM Research. He received his BS in PT in 1990, an MBA in 1999, and a PhD in 2003.  Chad authored the highly acclaimed textbooks: "Orthopedic Manual Therapy: An Evidenced Based Approach" and "Orthopedic Clinical Tests: An Evidence Based Approach" Chad is the Editor-in-Chief of JMMT.

Darren Earnshaw, PT, MPhysio, Cert MDT, FAAOMPT  M.S. Physiotherapy (Manipulative Medicine) (96) and B.S Physiotherapy Curtin University, Perth, Australia (92). Darren has 15 years of experience in manual therapy including both the McKenzie and Maitland approaches. Darren practices orthopedic manual therapy in Schererville, IN and is an assistant adjunct professor in the UIC Fellowship Program in Manual Therapy

Robert Fleming, DPT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT Bob is the Director of Rehabilitative Services at Ellis Medicine, Schenectady, NY and also specializes in industrial medicine. A graduate and Adjunct Professor of Mercy College (BS/MS PT 1998), Dobbs Ferry, NY. DPT Sage University 2005. Bob is a contributing author for APTA courses on cervical spinal stabilization, is co author of MAPS MT-ST Stabilizations course and is on the editorial board of the international journal, Cephalgia.

Robert Fluegel, PT, OCS, COMT, FABS  Rob sees orthopedic and sports patients in New York City.  He received his undergraduate training Holland, B.S. Hogeschool Enschede ('98) and has had extensive training in the Maitland approach and in Neurodynamics from David Butler. 

Trish Fong, PT, COMT MSPT Univ of Miami, FL ('00), BS Health Sci. St. Mary's College, Moraga, CA ('97) Trish practices manual therapy in a large multidisciplinary practice in San Fransisco.

Chris Greetham, PT, MCSP, COMT Graduated from Bath Univ., U.K. (‘83). Advanced clinical training with Dr. James Cyriax in London. Chris is now in private practice in Northern Virginia.

Kate Hoppensteadt, PT, MSPT, MPhysio, COMT M.S. Manipulative Physiotherapy, Univ. of Sydney, Australia ('02). M.S.P.T. Western Carolina Univ. ('99). B.S. Allied Health, Univ. of NC ('96). Kate practices Manual Therapy in her own outpatient clinic in Charlotte, NC concentrating in Orthopedics and Spine.

Steve Houghton, PT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT BS Physical Therapy, Wayne State Univ ('82). BS Biology, Michigan State Univ ('80). Steve studied the Maitland approach in Switzerland and has an extensive understanding of other philosophies of manual therapy. Steve is in private practice in Haslett, Michigan.

Clare Jones, PT, OCS, COMT, CFMT, FAAOMPT B.S. Physiotherapy Latrobe University, Melbourne, Australia ('91). Clare is licensed in Australia and the United States and currently practices Orthopedics and Manual Therapy in Bellingham, WA. Clare is also a Certified Functional Manual Therapist

Vinnie Kabbaz, PT, MPhysio, COMT, FAAOMPT M.S. Manipulative Physiotherapy ('00) and B.S. Physiotherapy (94'), Univ. of South Australia. Vinnie practices Orthopedics and Manual Therapy in Madison, WI and is Adjunct Faculty at the Univ. of Chicago Fellowship Program. 

Ken Learman, PT, M.Ed, PhD, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT BS in PT SUNY-Buffalo (89). MEd Health Education Penn State (92) PhD in Sports Medicine University of Pittsburg (07). Ken is associate Professor of PT at Youngstown State University in NE Ohio where he us actively involved in manual therapy research.

Roland Lucas, PT, MPhysio (Manip & Sports), COMT, FAAOMPT Graduate of residency program in Advanced Orthopedic Manual Therapy at Kaiser Permanente in Heywood, CA.  Roland also holds a Masters in Physiotherapy from University of South Australia, with double majors in Manipulative & Sports Physiotherapy.  He is in private practice in Sunnyvale, CA

David McPherson, PT, COMT, MAPA B.S. Physiotherapy Latrobe University, Melbourne, Australia ('88). David owns and operates a busy manual therapy practice in Melbourne, Australia.

Jody Musick, DPT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT Jody graduated his MPT (00) AND DPT (06) from Shenandoah University and also holds degrees in Biology and Health Sciences. He practices manual therapy in Orthopedic Outpatients in Johnson City, TN. 

Stephen Nestor, DPT, COMT Steve graduated PT from Northeastern University, Boston 1996, and DPT from MGH 1996. Steve is Clinical Director and specializes in Orthopedic Outpatients at Physiotherapy Associates, North Smithfield RI. Steve is also an Instructor in the tDPT Program at Northeastern University. 

Bryan J. O’Halloran, PT, SCS, OCS, COMT B.S. Physical Therapy Lincoln Institute at Latrobe Univ., Melbourne Australia (‘88), with professional licenses in the U.S., U.K., and Australia. Bryan operates his own private orthopedic practices in Philadelphia, PA.

Michael O'Hearn, PT, OCS, FAAOMPT B.S Physiotherapy University of NSW-Sydney, Australia ('81). M.H.S. Physical Therapy Univ. of Indianapolis ('99). Michael is Chief of Physical Therapy at Lakeland Regional Health System and Adjunct Professor in Orthopedics/Manual Therapy at Andrews University and the UIC Fellowship Program in Manual Therapy.

Heather Reeves, PT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT BS Physiotherapy, Univ. of Cape Town (SA)('93). Heather received her COMT after successfully completing the year long course in Bloemfontein, SA, ('97). She received her OCS in 2002 and her Fellowship through AAOMPT in 2006. Heather owns and operates her own private practices in Cary and Raleigh, NC.

David Sahley, DPT, OCS, COMT DPT 2006 and MSPT 2000 Marymount University. David owns an manual therapy Private Practice in Herndon, VA and is the Co-Founder of "Teardrops to Rainbows" a non-profit organization for cancer children.

Christopher R. Showalter, PT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT, FABS  B.S. Anatomy (‘84) and Physiotherapy (‘88) LaTrobe Univ. Melbourne, Australia. Mr. Showalter has been in private practice since 1988, and is owner/director of Australian Physiotherapy Centers of New York. Chris is Clinical Director of MAPS.

Robert Sprague, PT, PhD, FAAOMPT, GDMT, COMT MAPS founder. Recently deceased and sadly missed. A Graduate of Univ. of So. Australia’s program in Manual Therapy under G.D. Maitland (‘79), Dr. Sprague previously headed the PT department at Ithaca College, and spent many years in private practice.

Corne Vaneck, DPT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT B.A International Relations ('92) and B.S. Physiotherapy ('96)form University of Pretoria, South Africa. Corne is currently practicing in Orthopedic Outpatients in Memphis, TN and recently completed the Grimsby Orthopedic Residency program and DPT.

Keith Wobeser, PT, OCS, COMT, ART CSCS BSc PT 1993 University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Keith is both OCS and COMT trough MAPS and is also an Active Release Technique practitioner. Keith has 14 years of broad manual therapy experience and is in manual therapy Private Practice in suburban Philadelphia. Keith holds a number of Canadian national speed skating records.
