Become a Host / Sponsor

You are here:

Would you like to bring a MAPS course to your clinic?  Why not fill out an application to become a MAPS HOST or SPONSOR facility?

If you are interested in holding a public course at your clinic you want to HOST a course.
If you prefer to have a private course for just your staff you want to SPONSOR a course.

Requirements For Holding A Successful MAPS Seminar
All MAPS Host and Sponsor facilities must meet some minimum requirements in order to ensure a successful and high-quality course for all participants.  Below we list the required equipment and criteria for the selection of “Live” demonstration patients1.  If you believe that your facility meets these requirements, we encourage you to submit an application to become a MAPS Host or Sponsor using the online application link above. Responses generally take a minimum of 30 days.

It only takes a few minutes of your time to fill out an application.  Follow these two easy steps:

STEP 1

Minimum Requirements for All Potential SPONSOR or HOST Sites:

  • 10 Treatment tables (one per 3 participants). High-Low are preferred. Ideally, we prefer to have 50% of the available treatment table be High-Low for any spinal course, although peripheral courses need only 1-2 High-Low tables. NOTE: Fixed tables often require additional steps or wooden boxes to help the more vertically challenged participants.
  • Sufficient chairs and lecture and/or laboratory space to accommodate at least 30 course participants.
  • Wheelie stools, towels, pillows, and linen as available.
  • A back-up computer projection unit (in case the instructor’s unit breaks down) for displaying “PowerPoint” presentations
  • Slide projection screen or “clean” wall for displaying slideshow.
  • Black/White board OR flip chart OR Overhead projector.
  • Flexible Spine (MT-2, 3, and 4) and Peripheral joint models (MT-1, and 4) as available.
  • Reflex hammer and goniometer.
  • “Live” patients as described below.
  •

STEP 2

If you feel that you qualify, please complete a MAPS Host Application Form and fax it to 631-298-5872 or e-mail it to Joanne@ozpt.com or you can alternatively use the MAPS Host Online Application Form.

Please note that courses are booked up to three years in advance, and we receive multiple requests weekly.  It may take up to 45 days to receive a response from MAPS.  However, if you do not hear back from us within that time, please contact us at 631-298-5367 to check on the status of the application.

HOST/SPONSOR and the Selection of “Live” Demonstration Patients

The “Live” patient demonstrations are VERY IMPORTANT to the success of the seminar. There are no special criteria for the selection of patients. Patients who are on a regular outpatient schedule are usually good candidates. Select a variety of patients who present with both pain and hypomobility. Patients with vague or minor symptoms or patients with chronic or multiple complaints are poor candidates for demonstration. It is often helpful to have your therapists attending the seminar, choose one of their own patients.

Proper dress for adequate exposure of the area to be treated is essential. Shorts, bathing suits, sports bras, and halter tops are fine. Surgical gowns are unacceptable.

1Potential course sites that do not have the flexibility of providing live patients may still be able to hold MAPS courses at their facility, but priority will be given to those facilities able to provide demonstration patients.
