To ensure the health and safety of all participants and MAPS faculty during COVID-19, please note the following additional precautions that are being implemented at all our live courses until further notice:

1) Required use of Face masks. All course attendees (including the instructor) will be required to wear a face mask to (covering both nose and mouth) for the duration of the course.  Those arriving without a face mask will be required to purchase one through MAPS for a nominal fee in order to attend.

2) Attendee health screening.  All attendees will be screened daily prior to commencement of the course and any course participant with any COVID-19 or flu like symptoms (fever, cough, cold, headache, etc.) or recent exposure to COVID-19 will be refused admission.  Those refused admission will be able to reschedule their registration to another MAPS course at a later date.

3) Hand washing/sanitizing requirements.  All course sites will have hand sanitizer and/or washing stations available throughout the clinic for frequent use by course participants and the instructor. In addition, MAPS will require the following protocols to be followed at all live courses:

  • Participants must sanitize their hands prior to signing-in each day
  • Upon commencement of the laboratory portion of the course, participants will be required to thoroughly wash their hands.
  • Hand washing or reapplication of hand sanitizer will be required by all in advance of any patient demonstrations or when changing lab partners.

4) Snacks/coffee/beverages will no longer be provided- only water will be available.  Drinking water in individual bottles will be available free of charge.  No other refreshments will be served.  Participants are welcome to bring their own coffee/beverages/snacks if so desired.

5) Rigorous clinic disinfection protocol.  All hard surfaces at the course site (light switches, counter tops, etc., door knobs, podium, etc.) will be disinfected prior to commencement of the course.  Spray disinfectants or disinfectant wipes (i.e. Clorox wipes) will also be available to participants and/or the course instructor for use during the course.

  • Participants will disinfect the treatment table assigned to them upon arrival AND when changing lab partners.  When table paper is available, participants will also change that as well whenever lab partners switch.
  • The clinic will be sanitized daily with either Lysol or other similar aerosol disinfectant, unless an inside air disinfectant alternative (i.e., a UV disinfectant light) is available.

6) Supplemental COVID-19 liability waiver.  All participants will be required to sign an additional liability waiver, recognizing that despite the best efforts of MAPS and the HOST facility to ensure the health and safety of all attendees, there is an increased risk of infection any time an individual steps out of quarantine.

Until such time as the COVID-19 health emergency has passed, these additional precautions are designed to significantly reduce the risk of viral transmission. We will continually monitor new information and recommendations provided by the CDC, and other government agencies, and make any adjustments in the above protocols if necessary.

For those at higher risk, or those who do not feel comfortable attending live courses at this time, MAPS is introducing several exciting remote learning options you may want to explore.  Please see our Press Release dated May 28, 2020 for additional information.

Stay safe and healthy and we hope to see you soon!
