Background

The annual incidence of Cervical radiculopathy (CR) is 83.2 per 100,000 individuals –  more prevalent in men – with the peak incidence in the fifth and sixth decades of life (Radhakrishnan et al 1994). While CR is less common than mechanical neck pain, CR leads to more severe pain and disability (Childs et al 2008). Patients with combined axial (neck) and radicular (limb) symptoms have been shown to have greater functional limitations than those with either isolated axial (neck only) or radicular (limb only) pain (Daffner et al 2003).
